Skill Report: Find Out How Good a Trader You Really Are

· 6 min read · By EasyExecute

Most traders judge themselves by one thing: did I make money this week? That is a poor test. A lucky week and a skilled week can look the same. The skill report looks deeper.

Skill report with five scores
Five scores, with a plain sentence under each.

The five areas

Five scores make a shape. A balanced trader has a full, even shape.
  • Profitability: do your wins pay for your losses, and more?
  • Risk control: do you keep losses small?
  • Consistency: are your results steady, or do they swing from week to week?
  • Discipline: do you follow your plan and your rules?
  • Trade quality: are your trades well planned, with a target and a stop?

Numbers that matter, in plain words

  • Hit ratio: the share of trades that make money.
  • Risk to reward: how much you make on a win compared with how much you lose on a loss.
  • Profit factor: total profit divided by total loss. Above 1 means you are ahead.
  • Worst fall: the biggest drop from a peak in your results.
  • Longest losing run: the most losses in a row. It tells you how much a bad patch can hurt.

Results by period

See trades, target hits, stop-loss hits, hit ratio, risk to reward, average profit and loss, and net profit for the day, week, month, quarter, half-year, year or financial year. Seeing a whole financial year helps with tax time too.

How to use it

  1. Trade at least 10 times so the grade can be worked out.
  2. Find your lowest score. That is where one change helps most.
  3. Write the change as one rule. Pair it with your trade journal.
  4. Check the report again after 20 more trades.

The report works on your Virtual account (and a future live account). It does not use challenge or contest accounts.
